Where to park: First, look to park in the parking lot behind the post office, behind some trees directly across the road from the Marina. Do not park in the spots labeled for post office customers. Other spots are labeled with yellow signs. They are marina parking, although they don’t say so. If that lot is full, there may be other spots available on the water side of Deer Harbor Road past the Marina. Do not park in “Resort Parking” spots. If still no spots, head up Jack and Jill Place, which is the road that runs directly up the steep hill from the marina, between the post office on the right and the Deer Harbor Resort on the left. Near the top of the road there is a large building on the right, with marina parking in front of it. You will see additional signs saying “marina parking.” If that lot is full, go to the top of Jack and Jill Place, turn left onto Upper Deer Harbor Road, and there may be more marina parking spots next to the resort. It is illegal to park along the water side of Deer Harbor Road north of the marina, on the gravel pedestrian walkway that looks like roadside parking. There is a good chance that you may not be towed. or ticketed. But don’t count on it. After parking, walk to the end of the pier, past the restrooms on the left, to where the Dock Store is. Then take the ramp down to the right, and turn left just past the floating ‘barge’ with the gift shop in it. My boat will be there on the right with a sign that says, “Classic Daysailing”. “Aura” has a varnished wooden mast and a yellow deck. If you have Google Maps or Google Earth on your smartphone, search “Classic Daysailing”. Then zoom in on the red symbol, and it will take you to my slip in the marina. |
